The 1 September 2026 MaPrimeRénov' reform: what really changes

The 1 September 2026 MaPrimeRénov' reform: what really changes

The short version

From 1 September 2026, several works can no longer be funded as an isolated "single gesture": to keep a grant, they must be part of a whole-home renovation (accompanied pathway).

What is removed from the single-gesture route

The following works will no longer be fundable on their own after the deadline:

  • Wall insulation (external ITE and internal ITI)
  • Loft and low-floor insulation
  • Window and French-door replacement
  • Double-flow ventilation (VMC)
  • Replacing a boiler with a pellet model (outside a package)

Crucial point: an application filed before 1 September 2026 is processed under the current rules. It's the filing date that matters, not the works date.

What stays fundable per item

The most efficient low-carbon heating systems remain eligible on their own, notably:

  • Air/water heat pump
  • Ground-source (geothermal) heat pump
  • Solar and thermodynamic water heaters

What to do now

  1. Estimate your grants today to know what you're entitled to.
  2. If your works are on the removed list, file before the deadline or switch to the accompanied pathway.
  3. For a whole-home renovation, the first step is to choose your Mon Accompagnateur Rénov' (MAR): they organise the energy audit, build the file and secure your grants.

Whole-home renovation targets at least a 2-class DPE gain, with a spending cap of €30,000 excl. VAT (2 classes) or €40,000 excl. VAT (3+ classes), and coverage of 10% to 80% depending on income.

Amounts and rules indicative, sourced from France Rénov' / economie.gouv.fr. Check with ANAH before deciding.
